Microsoft AntiSpyware Has allowed EVERY Known Virus on my PC! HELP!!!

M

Marshall

To Anyone out there who can help me get back my PC,

I have been using Microsoft's Beta AntiSpyware
program and it has allowed every known virus to my
knowledge to attack and retain my PC. My browser and
homepage have been taken over and just about every time I
click my mouse it's soon followed with a POP-UP! Is
Microsoft contacting anyone with a solution to this
problem? I've already had to run a system recovery twice
and this is my 2nd PC that's been devoured by a round of
malicious viruses.

Marshall;
Viruses or spyware, two different things and you need different protection
for both.
Do you also have an updated anti virus installed and running?

Since this is still Beta, you should not rely only on it.
You should not install Beta on any production system or a system with
important data.
This applies to all Beta not just Microsoft Beta.

Follow the yellow section on this link:

I may be wrong here but my understanding is Microsoft
Antispyware will NOT protect you against viruses. You will
need separate anti-viral software for this purpose.

Viruses and spyware are two quite separate threats though
they share common elements.

Ahem, like its name suggests, AntiSpyware helps you avoid
Spyware. Spyware does not include viruses. If you do
not have an antivirus program like Norton, McAffee, or
TrenMicro--with the latest updates--you are opening
yourself up to code that is much worse than any Spyware
program.

At this point, suggest formatting and rebuilding your
computer from the original Genuine Microsoft CD that it
came with and don't plug it into the Internet until you
have a firewall and AV program running.

Ok everyone has allready touched on Virus issue.

Now on the Hijacker
Run a Deep System Scan, remove all found infected files.
Once the scan is done go to the Advanced Tools, and
Browser Hijacker Restore, click Select All, and Restore.
The Hijacker should be gone post results.

First, if you don't have WinXP SP2, get LSP-Fix - a free program to repair
damaged Winsock 2 stacks
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
save it because you might need to repair the Winsock 2 stacks after removing
the culprit.
For WinXP SP2 this command will restore the Winsock stacks if you can't
connect after clearing the malware.
Go to Start | Run and type
CMD
In the command window type
netsh winsock reset
Then get CWShredder
