microscoft word question

hi, i am trying to open an important document on ym microsoft
word 2000
program. Its a resume that was sent to my hotmail
account, so i
downloaded the file and tried to open it, but it
comes up as a little
paragraph of squares and weird symbols?
it this because maybe i dont
have the right component
installed in my word program to download and
open the
file?

It was probably writen in Word 2003, download and install OpenOffice
1.1.5 (if you don’t want to give Microsoft your money), although
Office 2000 carnt open Office 2003 documents, OpenOffice has no
trouble.

originally made on the exact same program from my old computer. I sent
the dowcument to my email so that i could open it when I needed it in
in a different country. so they are the same program and i dont
understand why it can't open it

In that case the file may have been corrupted in translation to mime
version or whatever format you used. Also, are you sure it was a word
document and not pdf file?

Why not create a test file in word and email it to yourself to see what
went wrong. You have to keep experimenting it so that you learn the
tricks yourself.
