WARNING: more and more programs that are free
want you to install yahoo or google toolbars as an option.
Ccleaner is one of them.. so be careful when you are installing this
to uncheck that option if you dont want it.

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes
unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing
up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities
such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally
taking less that a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

posted here more than once: A version with no toolbar
- called "Basic" - is officially available here:

I don't know if there's an option to refuse. Look at Flash player now that
Adobe has it.
The Yahoo tool bar is there and if you un-check it, you can't install the
program. So with
many of them, to get the 'freebie' you must take the garbage (e.g., unwanted
toolbars).

whats the difference if you can select to not install it?

Ok it must be smaller.. but thats good to know to send around to people
who might not see that option and skip unchecking it.

This happens all the time...

thanks

Helen I am talking about the latest version 9.x that came out a week
ago(?).
It has a checkmark on the site that asks you if you want the toolbar.

It was optional...

I am talking about the IE active X page, but I think the same applied for
firefox download, since I did that too.. and I didnt see a toolbar.

O.K. As long as it works for you. I know that when they initially began
"offering" that
yahoo toolbar, there was no option to not take it, so I "x'ed' 'em off my list.
I neither
needed nor wanted Yahoo's ...anything, certainly not a toolbar.

I just tried some minutes ago, no problem in Firefox, I wasn't
even asked about Y! toolbar. A downloadable Installer that just
installs, no options, no interaction.

IE leads me to a webpage, there is an option to unselect Y!
toolbar, but I've seen no reaction when I chose to install after
that. With the box selected the installation began. Looks like a
serious error in the webpage. But uninstall of the toolbar is
also so easy, fortunately.

thorsten

I am using avant browser, its a shell for IE... and it worked for me....

perhaps because it has a pop up like the pre service pack 2 era,
not the yellow information bar warning they added to IE6 with sp2

Yes, it is easy to uninstall, thankfully.
