Messenger on two computers on lan with Router connection to internet

Hi!

I have a US Robotics 8022 Router and want to use Windows Messenger 4.7 with
my webcam (logitech quickcam messenger) an two computers on my local lan.
my router (cable modem) has a static ip. My local lan has ip range
192.168.123.x.
when I want to make a video telephony connection with one of these two
computers to some computers on the internet what must I then all configure
on my router?

knows anybody a other video tlephony software which could for my case be
easy configured on any router?

Thanks!

Greetings Freddy,

In order to have your router allow voice/video conversations outside your local network, your
router must either have built-in Messenger support or support for Universal Plug and Play
(UPnP). The 8022 does have support for UPnP but you will need to install a firmware update
in order to engage it. You can find the firmware update here:
http://www.usr.com/support/product-template.asp?prod=8022
(the 4.2 version should work)

To install the firmware update, see the upgrade.txt file contained within the firmware update
zip file (located on the site).

Also note that after updating the firmware, be sure to reboot both computers in order for
UPnP to take affect in Messenger. After UPnP is installed on your router, there's no further
configuration needed (although you may have to turn UPnP on in the router, I'm uncertain
whether or not this particular model requires you to manually turn it on), simply initiate a
voice/video conversation (or accept an invitation from someone else).
