Since the three recent updates to MS Messenger 7.5 (builds 0311, 0322, and
now 0324), has anyone other than myself noticed the functionality of this
once fantastic program disappear?

I'm talking specifically about the server appearing to be down,
log-on/log-off not working correctly, and most importantly, the inability to
be able to send/receive remote assistance requests??

I have configured my firewall and router to open all necessary ports (before
anyone asks lol) and repeated requests to Messenger Tech Support have been
inconclusive.

I have a disabled member of family who lives many miles away (on a different
continent actually) who relies on remote assistance with me to corect any
problems with her computer if anything goes wrong, and since 7.5, we haven't
been able to connect to each other.

Any idea's??

thansk guys :)

Microsoft Tech Support have identified that Windows Messenger needs to be
installed alongside MSN Messenger to alleviate these problems.

After re-installing Windows Mesenger (add/remove windows components in
'add/remove programs') and configuring it NOT to start automatically with
windows, MSN Messenger is now working perfectly.

Just thought I'd post back to update anyone who was having the same issues...

:)

What are "these problems"? There is no context for your post.

Again "same issues" as ...

Just because your news server does not show it, does not mean it was not
there.

The OP responded back to their original thread - which I have included in
this response in chronilogical order for archiving purposes. Hope this
clears things up for you, Mike. =)

a) it's still not wise to snip the context - since so many people filter
READ messages
b) if someone also changes the topic and removes anyway Re: prefixes,
then one isn't even likely to infer that it was part of a thread.
