....or he has not activated it. In Spanish it says:

jose no ha instalado conversación de vídeo y voz (o está sin activar) y no
puede aceptar su invitación.

However he is using it with no problems with other people.
I'll appreciate any hint.

Greetings,

What version of Messenger is he using? The latest Windows Live Messenger's video support is
not compatible with Windows Messenger 5.1. You'll need to install and use the Windows Live
Messenger to use video with him.

Thank you Jonathan Kay, you were right: I was using Messenger 5.1 and the
contacts WLM2009.

However I upgraded to WLM2009, signed in with my Hotmail ID and no contacts
showed. I cleared de caches as described in the Help text and I tried to add
a few contacts manually. WLM2009 says "other contact does not use Messenger
yet" (in Spanish) and the contacts do no appear on my list. They can see me
on-line and they can send an IM but not video calls.

Obviously I am doing something wrong beause my contacts can use WLM2009 with
no problems except contacting me.

I will appreciate any hint.

I have the exact same problem. (Messenger says they don't have the hardware
for video conversation, tried Live Messenger, but they won't to appear in
contacts. When I'm signed in, they can IM me but I can't see them.)

Is this a compatibility issue or a software problem? They don't know which
version they have. What if it's not 2009?
