Message rules

Due to the receiving 4 or 5 "Swen" virus a weekday, which Norton saves me
from, I have been making rules for
my emails. I am currently using Outlook Express. Using the rules I have
been checking (1) Where the from line contains XXXXX and
(2) Delete it from server.
But then I noticed that after doing this that the Rules Description
reads "Apply this rule after the message arrives
Where the subject Line contains XXXXX
Delete it from server.
My questions is this: Will these messages still download onto my computer or
will they be deleted at my server before they reach me. And should I also
be applying "Block Sender"? Any other recommendations are also welcome.
Also is Outlook safer are better than Outlook Express? Thanks in advance.

Block sender doesn't work since these are fabricated origin addresses. The
messages rules are generally activated after downloading. The most important
message rule that worked for me is to delete all messages not actually
addressed to me. Yes I know this sounds weird but it's real. Select where
message is to then enter your userid then select options and click is not
this person, then select delete it as the action. Works great.

When you say userid you mean my name? The only problem is I just checked
and I sometimes receive email that is sent as a "cc" and sometimes someone
elses' name is in the "to" column. What then? Or am I overlooking the
obvious? Thanks again.

Your internet name as given by your ISP. In your case I imagine you remove
the ".invalid".

There is also a "cc" instruction in rules, but I've never tried to use it,
so can't comment.
