Merging databases

I was just transferred to an office where we keep a database file, using
Access 2000. The database contains the profile information and all contact
information for all customers. It is updated with each contact. However,
there had been problems with the database and different people did patchwork
solutions. We ended up with two databases on our server. Some 15 workers
were accessing one database or the other. An update would be made to one
database and not the other. A new contact would be added and would not be
in the other database. My task is to bring about accuracy in the database
and end redundancy. I would like to merge the two Access databases and have
everyone accessing the same database. Is this possible and how would I go
about it. There are some files in one database that are not in the other
and replication of customer files with one database having data or entries
for a custome that the other database would not have. I would appreciate
any help.

Regards,
Bill

Assuming both files have the same or almost the same structure, I'd create a
new empty database and import each of the others into it. I'd then append
one set of records to the other and run the Find Duplicates query wizard to
get the possible duplicates. Someone knowledgeable then needs to go through
the records and delete the least accurate one.
