Menus will not drop down in Word 2001 when clicked

I have Microsoft Office 2001: Mac Version. The Microsoft Word Menus will not drop down when clicked. Can you tell me what the problem could be?

PS. For Mac-specific problems like this one that involve glitches with Word,
