Memtest hangs but system works??

Asus P4C800 E Deluxe. P4, 3.2

For the past year I've run this system with one gig of Kingston Value
Ram (2 dimms of 512).

I just purchased another two dimms of the same ram with the same part
number and installed it in the other two slots.

The memory was recognized and checked at bootup without problems.

I then ran memtest and partway through, it just hung - had to shut down
the system.

I ran memtest again and the same thing happened.

I removed the new dimms of ram and ran memtest using only the ram that
has already been in the system for a year, without incident, but I never
checked it.

Memtest hung using memory that has been working for a year.

Is there some problem with memtest and this Asus board?

Any ideas?

TIA

Try disabling USB Legacy support in the BIOS. It is a
known problem.
