What is the advantage of bringing up a W2K server as a
member server verses a DC?

We have 1 server now running AD and intend on bringing up
another server running Oracle and Delphi. I really wanted
to bring this new server up as a member server even tough
we need a backup DC.

If there are "enough" DCs you may want to use a member server. A
member server doesn't take part in AD replication tasks and therefore
acts as a server for file and other services better than a DC.

And running Oracle on a DC is not really a concept I would suggest to
use.
