Meetings scheduled between Outlook 2000 and 2003

When I schedule meetings with users of different Outlook
versions, the meeting notifications do not come thru with
the choices to Accept, Tentative, Decline, etc. They are
purely coded text as in:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook 11.0 MIMEDIR//EN
VERSION:2.0 METHOD:REQUEST BEGIN:VEVENT

Is there a way to make the other versions "read" my newer
meetings?

(I have Oulook 2003, most other users I schedule with
have 2000 or 2002.)

I've been using o2003 for 8 months or so with everyone else using 2000 and
I've not had any problems.

so the users actually see the vcalendar code ? something weird gone on with
MIME settings I think, is there anything else different about how your PC is
connected - is it on the lan with the same server settings?

Yes, the code is what they get. We're on the same network
and I assume the same mail server settings, altho' I
think some people list the server name (mail.abc.com)
versus the IP address.

Try sending the meeting request without a reminder and see if that helps.
There is a known issue with sending meeting requests with reminders from
Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2000, and it may apply to Outlook 2003 as well.

This workaround is okay and all assuming you dont want to send a
reminder. Is there any other way to ensure that the users of older
Outlook versions have access to this, perhaps a freeware conversion
plugin or something.

How does one transition a small company that cant afford a complete
one pass rollout to new technologies to new software? Looks like they
[Microsoft] dropped the ball on this one... Lets give them everything
but the Reminder!

Don't use the iCal format.

A colleague of mine at work had a slightly different
suggestion for fixing this problem. I tested it, and it
seemed to work for me.

In Tools -- Options -- Calendar Options, in the Advanced
Options section, uncheck the option for using the
iCalendar format.

from this URL: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...ow=1&q=outlook+2000+2003+reminder&sa=N&tab=wg

In Tools -- Options -- Calendar Options, in the Advanced

iCalendar format.

I tested this with machines using Outlook 2002 & 2003 sending messages
to 2000. The meeting event then contains the reminder correctly.
