Meeting Room - Not automatically accepting invitations

Hi

I'm trying to create a user for a meeting room. The idea is that people
invite the room to a meeting and it is supposed to accept the request
automatically.

I have tried following the instructions in
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/2000/maintain/cfsetup.mspx

But it doesn't work.

I wander if the problem is that I'm using Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 and the
instructions are for 5.5 but it seems to be the same.

Any help would be gratefully received.

This should work. Do you have a machine dedicated to the resource?
Or, do you use your own machine?

I ask because it is important that when you log onto the resource, it
will use the local settings on the machine, and save them back to the
server when you log off.

Therefore, you cannot log back into a "configured resource" on a
machine that is not already set with the configuration that you have
set.

I would re-check your settings against the article to verify that you
have not missed anything.

What is happening when your clients send a meeting request to the
resource? Does the request just sit in the inbox of the resource?

Yes the requests just sit in the inbox.

I logged into my PC as the "Meeting Room" user, configured Outlook for the
first time and went through the instructions.

I then logged out and relogged into the same machine as me.

I then tried to use it and it just won't respond until I log back into my
machine as the "Metting Room" and manually respond.

I've found a couple of articles you mentioned in another post that I'll look
while I wait for the sun to get to your side of the world.

It looks like I need this if I'm not going to leave a PC running Outlook for
Meeting Room.

Am I right?

This would only be necessary if you have an Exchange Server.

Make sure you are not in CACHED mode when you log into the
resource. Also, make sure you have the mailbox (Not a PST as
the delivery point for the mail). When you exit the resource, be sure
to use the FILE MENU not the X in the corner. This will make
sure that the changes you made are sent back to the server for
processing.

Now I'm confused. The earlier post worked without this extra file, but I am
using Outlook connected to an Exchange Server. Is this for doing it directly
on the server without using Outlook.

Actually, now I've got it working I don't need an answer. I'm happy

Yes, this is a more robust scripting/com element that needs to be
installed on the server where your resource mailbox lives. If the
other is working for you, I would just chalk it down to extra info
for possible future use.
