I've always wondered why if MCE is a "superset" of Pro then why were
some network capabilities omitted? It seems to me that is more of a
superset of Home in this regard, but never having used it I just wonder.
The original release of WinXP MCE was a true "superset" of WinXP Pro;
it could even join a domain. This capability has been stripped only
from the newest versions of MCE. And otherwise, MCE retains WinXP Pro's
capabilities, such as its more granular security controls.
But your point is well taken. There's really very little place for
such extensive multi-media capabilities in the business world for which
WinXP Pro is intended, while there would be in the home consumer market.
