Measuring MB Temperature as executable?

I run executables wherever possible, and only install critical utilities.
This one runs fine that way.

HDD Health is a full-featured failure-prediction agentSitting in the
system tray, it monitors hard disks and alerts you to impending failure.
The program uses Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.)
built into all new hard disks, and can predict failures on your hard
drives. A host of alerting features include email, local pop-up messages,
net messages, and event logging, while using no system resources.

But I don't get a indication of temperature compared to max limit in a
format I like.

Speed Fan and Motherboard Monitor will not run as executables.

Is there another utility of this sort that gives a good temperature
indication and will run as an executable?

Mike, MB and drive monitoring depends on the MB or drive to provide
signals that the software can monitor. Not all MBs and drives provide
these signals. Of those that do, not all MBs (I haven't seen it with
drives, since S.M.A.R.T. is a standard) provide the same signals, or
provide them in the same way, so not all monitoring programs monitor
all MBs equally well. You have to find one that works with your
particular MB. (And, if your drive isn't S.M.A.R.T. compatible, no
software is going to monitor its temperature.)

Al, HD Health already indicated reading the S.M.A.R.T parameters on my
motherboard, and other functions as well. It is a modern MB, so should
read out OK.

I just hope to have another choice as an executable to try.

Ahh, okay. I don't remember if it did temperatures (I haven't used it
in a while) but there used to be a program like that called Aida32.
Google gives dozens of hits.

Hi all,

I made a test with Everest from Lavalys, it's not really a free
software, but you may try it as a limited trial version. It lets you
see MB temperature and you only need to start the executable, no
installation required.

Thanks. Yes, the last free Everest does readout temperature, as an
executable.

Thanks, Al. I have it, it does read out temperature, Everest being newer,
reads one more temperature.

It doesn't seem to do temperatures. Aida32 is now Everest; maybe this
will do temps.

A similar program that does do them is Sisoft Sandra.
