mCafee anti virus software

hi i'm using windows XP. mcafee antivirus software is
automatically installed on computer. however my isp is
netzero,every time i tried to access logon, firewalls
were crashing out my isp and preventing it. so i had to
remove the antivirus software in order to access the
internet. can i reinstall the mcafee antivirus software
without all the firewalls that clash with my isp and the
internet?

I am afraid you should change both ISP and Anti-Virus.
A good firewall is an absolute must if you ever connect to the Internet.
The original inbuilt Windows XP firewall is quite enough, but you might
want something a bit more powerful like the free ZoneAlarm
(http://www.zonelabs.com). If your ISP won't let you have a firewall,
simply change ISP.
The McAfee antivirus is notorious for causing all kind of compatibility
problems (e.g. with OE) and for its poor performance. I have been using
the eTrust antivirus from Computer Associates for years now. Although
it does not get as much publicity as the big ones, it is the best value
for money antivirus you can get. They also have a firewall solution.
