Maxtor 160gb challenge

E

EBG

I have a dell optiplex gx1 and I've updated the chips.
I have Windows 2000 w/ sp3 and also ran the Maxtor big drive enable.

The bios shows a 160gb drive but when I view C: properties in windows it
shows only 127gb.

Here's the sequence of events....
(1) updated bios chips
(2) installed the new 160gb drive
(3) installed windows 2000 w/sp2
(4) installed the sp3 pack
(5) installed the big drive enable patch

Is there something I've missed?

At worst case, I wouldn't mind using C: for Windows and creating "E:" for
all my data....don't have any experience with FDISK or that procedure
though.

Thanks for your help.

At this point the largest partition you could have created was 128GB.
(4) installed the sp3 pack
(5) installed the big drive enable patch
The partition you created at (3) remains 128GB in size.
Is there something I've missed?
Run Windows 2000 Disk Management program to create another partition
using the rest of the drive.

it's not your fault. Ask Bill gate, it 's his problem in windows. Cotact
microsoft support, ....a known problem.
