Maxium number of nodes

can any one tell me what the maxium number of nodes is on
a class c? ithink its 254? is it good practis to subnet a
class c when u get to about 200 nodes ro reduce brodcast
zones? and if you need more IP's

Any help would be grate.

254 is correct.

Subnetting can be used as part of a strategy to isolate and reduce broadcast
traffic. Not sure there is anything significant about the number 200.
Subnetting reduces the number of available IP addresses. Supernetting is a
technique which can used to increase the number of available host IP
addresses on a segment. See:
