Maximum file size in movie maker

Guest

After creating a large holiday movie, when saving as an AVI file the
following meassage pops up. "Your movie cannot be created because the movie
file exceeds the 4 gigabite file size limit"
What is the best way round this problem, do I need to split the movie or
edit it down?
Is the size limit due to movie maker or DVD size?

The size limit is from the internal AVI file format (you can not address the
positions within the file when they exceed a certain size)

Chances are that you are saving the file at a much higher resolution than is
really needed. What settings did you use?

I was saving to movie as a DV AVI Pal, which I know is the largest file size.
I saved as a High Quality Video with no problem. Quality was sufficient for a
DVD for viewing on a TV.

the file size limit isn't due to it being a DV-AVI file... it's because the
hard drive file system is FAT32.... you can change it to NTFS to remove the
limit.

search for NTFS in your XP help and it'll have info on how to do the
conversion, which is quick, easy, and doesn't remove existing files (if
you're careful).
