Matsushita UJDA 310 Driver not correctly configured by XP Home

The CDRW I have tried to use on my Dell Laptop is not
fully recognized by Windows XP, which only sees it as a
CDROM drive (read only. The drive is correctly recognized
by Easy CD Creator as a 4x cd write drive, but when it
goes to write or format a new blank cdr disk, the windows
driver, which only sees it as a read only cdrom drive
hangs the drive and I have to reboot. If I disconnect it a
then reconnect, the plug and play sees it as a "Matsushita
UJDA310 CDrom" and automatically installs the same
Microsoft "standard CDROM" driver for the drive, without
write functionality. Does anyone have a fix for this
situation? Thanks.
