how do i match columnA in spreadsheetA with columnB in spreadsheetB to
find the value in columnD of spreadsheetB ?

=vlookup(a1,sheetb!b:d,3,false)
or
=index(sheetb!d:d,match(a1,sheetb!b:b,0))
