MAS can't seem to eliminate lop

I have a toolbar from hell that I can't eliminate. I've
tried some of the registry changes recommended, run
AdAware, Spybot S&D, SpyBlaster & now MAS.

A couple of the other apps at least spotted it, MAS seems
to think I'm clean. Unfortunately, the other apps removed
only SOME of the offending junk and the damn thing opens up
with IE every time. I've taken to using Firefox as my only
defense.

I get a toolbar at the bottom of the screen and a modified
toolbar in the browser itself. And then there's the
POPUPS.. man.

Do you think MAS is going to come up with something soon,
or do I just accept that there is a reformat in my future?

Hi Pak,
Boot into Safe Mode (F8) at startup;
Empty your temporary files AND your Temporary Internet Files C:\Documents
and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder ;
Run the scan while in safe mode;
If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recognize.

Well, I did everything except for finding the Tools
folder in IE. All that's there are Connection Wizard,
MUI, PLUGINS and SIGNUP folders.

I'm going to try the process again, using the full deep
scan as I had only used the Quick scan last time.

Interestingly, the scan has always turned up Messenger
Plus, which has accompanying information that suggest to
ignore it. This time I chose to delete it and saw
verbiage about LOP in Msgr Plus. I thought that was kind
of odd considering the previous "ignore" suggestion.

In any event, I deleted it and after a reboot opened IE
to find the same browser bar. The one that appears at the
lower screen wasn't there though. As it opened, to the
hijacked home page, I also got a window suggesting I
accept some .exe that I Xed.

I just discovered that there was more crap in my other
logon ID Temp and Temp Internet folders. I've now deleted
all that. I'm hesitant to dump the stuff that is in the
Temp Int Files under Administrator. There's a folder,
Content.IE, with a few more folders with it. One
has "Component Releases" XML document, and there's a free
DAT file labeled "index". Do they all need to go as well?

I'll report my next results after the full scan.

THANKS!

Still getting the lower free standing toolbar and the
additional one in IE. The second deep scan came up blank.

What now?
