mark messages as read

Does anyone know if there is a way to automatically mark a
message as read when processing it in a rule?

I have a rule set up to move Sent messages sent to a
specific person into a personal folder file, and they
always show up there as unread. Is this using a Custom
Action, and if so, how do I define a Custom Action?

yes, in Outlook 2002 or later. No, in earlier versions, unless you use the
MarkRead custom action from http://www.slipstick.com/addins/custom.htm
