MARK CONRAD - WSR CLAIMS OUT OF CONTEXT

Dragon NaturallySpeaking (DNS) is    *30*  *TIMES*
more accurate than Windows Speech Recognition (WSR)
on any use where unusual words are involved,
such as medical usage.

Mark,

You wrote the subject as: "Dragon 30-TIMES more accurate than Vista
Speech"

This is quite unfair as you then qualify in the first paragraph this
is for unusual words such as medical usage. Of course WSR, Windows
Speech Recognition, is going to be inaccurate in your "UNUSUAL" usage
because WSR was not developed with a medical vocabulary in mind. You
know this and you know WSR does not have native tools for building
one's speech profile. You also know there is a WSRToolkit that allows
one to improve recognition and vocabulary as well as easily create
text and command macros (shortcuts). It is the WSRToolkit found at:
http://www.mymsspeec.com/microphones/prod_details.asp?prodID=228

We still have not seen where you have ordered this $15.99 useful tool
although you previously said you would?

Mark Conrad said:
document scanning feature which actually works.

That document scanning feature is critical for accuracy
on technical text of any kind, not just medical text.

Here is the score on accuracy, keeping in mind that the
document scanning feature was *ACTIVE* in both
speech apps that were tested, in other words every
effort was made to maximize the accuracy of both
WSR _and_ Dragon Preferred.

Dragon Preferred: __ 0 mistakes
WSR: __________ 30 mistakes

Works for me and I get nowhere near 30 mistakes. Otherwise I would not use
it ;-)
Looks like Dragon has a clear 30 times better accuracy
score to me.

I use both, they are both up on the screen at the same time so I can
interact between the 2 using a couple of clever macros and choose which one
I want to use at any given time. Dragon is definitely more accurate than
WSR at the moment but not 30 times more accurate, no way. You haven't even
got the WSR tool kit to improve your accuracy, so how on earth do you know
that the document scanning feature (as you call it) within the tool kit does
not work? You do love to fish don't you? ;-)

Besides, it is not known as a document scanning feature within the tool kit,
you can add accuracy by using the 'train from text' or 'add from file'
features and it does exactly the same as Dragon's features within 'Dragons
Accuracy Centre'.

Yes, Dragon is more accurate than WSR on the dictation side. Tell us
something we don't know you old drone!

When it comes to the command side however, no competition. Is another
reason why I use both as WSR is probably about twice as fast for getting
around the computer as Dragon is. Dragon 11 will probably have their own
version of the 'Show Numbers' command in it. It is being developed as we
speak but I bet you all the tea in China, it will not compare to WSR's
version. Dragon are very jealous of this, fact.

Having the Knowbrainer software advances Dragon scores on the command side
but even with this software, it is not as fast as WSR on that
score. Fact!
Marty, you are propping up a dog of an application
as long as Microsoft refuses to fix their document
scanning feature so it actually works.

Doesn't need propping up, I have no trouble with it whatsoever and will
continue using it. Plus it is much improved in Windows 7. It seems the
only dog that needs propping up is you!
If anyone believes my test was unfair, they can run
their own test using the same dictation example
as I did.

Your tests as usual are bull shit!
I doubt very much that they can improve the
"0 to 30" score, much better than I did.

I can and have! No problem and easy peazy ;-)

As for MacSpeech, why bother with sloppy seconds when I have DNS 10+
Knowbrainer 2008+ WSR within Windows 7?

Vista Speech (WSR) out-of-the-box  *INCLUDES*
a document scanning feature.
Place a checkmark in the box:
"Allow computer to review your documents
and mail to improve speech recognition accuracy"

Mark,

It is apparent you do not have an understanding of the mechanics of a
speech recognition vocabulary. For the feature you make reference to
to work, the words must already be in the vocabulary. When that
feature is used, words found not already in the forefront of the
vocabulary are moved up in priority. If the words are not in the base
vocabulary they cannot be added. Dragon is able to do this because its
base vocabulary is huge, 160,000 words and includes the medical
terminology.
WSR's vocabulary was never developed with special vocabularies like
Medicine or Law, only a basic business/general vocabulary. The only
way we know of adding specialty words and adding their phonetic sounds
to Windows Speech Recognition is through the two of the 7 features in
the WSRToolkit Andy mentions.
Sincerely,
Marty Markoe, eMicrophones, Inc.
