Margins in headers and footers

I am sure there is a simple answer to this, but I can't work it out!
I have a long header & footer which fits along the top & bottom of my page with 1cm margins

Obviously, for the main body of the letter I want normal margins. Once I change the margins for the main text, the header and footer no longer fit. Is it possible for the margins to change on one page? I have tried the option 'from this point onwards' but this just pushes all the main body of the text onto the next page

I just want 1cm margins at the top and bottom and 2cm margins in the main text body - is this possible
