Mapped drives disconnecting

I have a windows 2000 laptop that when left alone for 10-15 minutes, will not
let you access the already used mapped drives, there is not a red X on the
drive it just says network drive not accessible the network path could not be
found then when clicking it again it works fine.. I know this is machine
specific becuase when the user logs into another machine it works fine.

Mapped Drives are supposed to timeout after a period of time to preserve
resources because a Mapped Drive maintains a constant connection otherwise
(which is bad).

Use "shortcuts" based on the UNC path instead. You can place the shortcuts
about anywhere you want to.
