map drives

just a quick question, does a domain user have to have local admin rights to map
a network share? Of course, assuming they do have correct permissions for the
target network share. Do they need any local rights higher than 'user'?

thanks

Nope, it's based on their rights to the resource.
I'm not sure that is entirely accurate. Depending on the user/group rights
within the domain he may not be able to change drive mappings.

When I worked for tha Navy we set up some workstations to be VERY strict
and that was a common thing. Now it's been a few years since I have tried
it, and back then it was NT4, but I would be willing to bet, that you can
still stop users from mapping or unmapping drives.

I would check with your admin before driving yourself crazy.
