Many menu commands greyed out

My excel used to work great, then one day I had to run a
sheet full of macros for work, and my excel was never the
same.

The sheet with macros didn't function, and I eventually
had to switch to another computer to use it. Now
however, my copy of excel has many of its menu items
grayed out. I can still access many of them by hot keys
(if I know them), but in general I need to restore them.

I reinstalled excel, and it didn't help. I then tried
repairing it, then uninstalling and reinstalling and
still its the same. Its the same for all of my excel
files, even new ones.

Here's a list of some of the commands that are greyed out:

New
Open
Save
Page Setup
Print
Copy
Cut
and so on.

If anyone has any clue how I can fix it, I'd really
appreciate it. If you could also CC the reply to me
directly that would be great too.

Thanks,
-Tim

You could try:
tools|Customize|toolbars tab
select the worksheet menubar and click Reset.

If that doesn't work, you could delete/rename the existing *.xlb file and
rebuild any customizations you've made.

close excel
windows start button|Find (or search)
search for *.xlb
rename them to *.xlbOLD
restart excel

if it worked, delete the *.xlbOLD files and rebuild any customized toolbars.

If it didn't, rename them back to *.xlb.

(If you didn't find the *.xlb file, make sure you look for hidden files in
hidden folders.)
