We have a lot of XP stations here, and I have one arm tied
behind my back as I try to lock these things
down using local computer policies due to the lack of an
AD back end.
Computers are constantly getting messed up as people
isntall System Soap Pro, Yahoo Messenger, etc. etc. etc.
ad nauseum.
For the most part, on a lot of these machines, each
machine has it's own local domain\pc_id login account, and
they automatically log into the desktop and act as a
public/kiosk type workstation.
How could I (without AD) refresh the user profile each
time the system is rebooted? I've never been a fan of NT
4.0 roaming profiles. Is there a way perhaps to have a
backup copy of the profile locally, that is re-copied over
when the user logs in? This would increase login/boot
time, but not add network bandwidth.
Any helpful suggestions out there would be much
appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
