making my network go faster

Hi! i have a Desktop PC (LAN 100Mbps) and a Laptop (wireless 11Mbps) they
are both winxp SP2 and they are connected trough a Wireless router (LINKSYS
BEFW11S4), now the problem is this, it run really slow, my files go back and
foward just fine but everything else is really slow, printing jobs,
exploring one pc from another, even usign Radmin to control one another it's
really slow, i've been told that there are many ways to make this a lot
faster, like things in the registry and services to take down, but i just
don't know wich and how, it's really slow for example if i double clic My
network places and then show my workgroup computers it takes almost 1 minute
to show both of them, and i don't really think this is normal, so can u help
me?
