I have windows XP proff, drives formatted NTFS, I keep al my data on my D
drive, OS is on the C drive, I do not use the MyDocuments Folder.
I have an employee that uses my computer, he has a seperate login as limited
user.

How do I keep my folders private?

Right click on a folder in Explorer and select "Properties". Then select the
"Security" tab. Make sure that only yourself plus "SYSTEM" and "CREATOR
OWNER" are listed. If you can't remove users due to inheritence, click
"Advanced" then deselect the "Inherit from..." box near the bottom. Select
"Copy" when prompted with what to do with existing permissions. Then you can
go back and remove access to everyone but yourself.

Hope this helps!

Note: You'll need to go into Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View and scroll down to Use simple file sharing. Uncheck it. Otherwise the Security tab won't be visible.

Hi Davek

I dont get a "Security" tab.
Do I have to set an Option in Windows first to allow security??

I am really a newbie at this, but one thing I noticed is that you are using
XP Pro. XP Pro lets you create encrypted files or folders. So, if there
are certain files or folders that you really need to keep secure, you can
also set those files/folders up to be encrypted. That would also protect
the information from being accessed if someone steals your computer. That
could help prevent company liability for identity theft if your computer
stores social security numbers, birthdates, etc.

I have a administrator account that is password protected and I uncheck Make
this folder private on the sharing tab C:\Documents and Settings\TJ folder
which is the administrator account but Limited account user still cannot
access the TJ's my documents. Is this by default or possibly a bugs or error?
It seem that i have to leave the TJ account with no password in order for
limited account to access the documents. Also How do I make my TJ
(administrator account) with blank password it seem that i can only change
the password.

The way I did it was to go through the change-password sequence but instead
of entering a new password and then re-typing the new password, I just left
both boxes blank.
