Making Folders Private

Can anyone help me??? I have just purchased a new laptop with XP home installed, and I am having problems making my 'my documents' folder private. I have set up two accounts, one for work and one for home use - and would like to keep them totally independent from each other, so I can keep my personal work/files private from work colleagues if they ever use my laptop while at work.

I followed the help 'step-by-step procedure' to go into documents and setting, select my user, right click on my documents folder and select sharing and security. Click on the sharing tab and click on the 'make this folder private' check box. However, it is at this point the problem occurs - it is grayed out and unclickable/selectable. I can not understand why?? Is there something I am not doing?? Regards, Alex

Look at the following article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=298399

Matija,

Thank for the quick response - I have found out that I have a FAT32 system not NTFS, Have found some articles on changing it over but will I lose all the data on that drive, eg will I have to re-install windows on the machine and start again?

Sorry Alex,
I pasted the wrong url. I meant to paste:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=307286

If which you already have description on how to convert from FAT32 to NTFS.

Although I didn't saw a case in which the data was lost or corrupt, here is
a quote from MS article:

"""""
Note Although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion is
minimal, we recommend that you perform a backup of the data on the volume
that you want to convert before you start the conversion.
"""""
You can read more about Converting in the following article;
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307881

For any further questions don't hesitate to contact me.
