Making a backup copy of xp pro sp2 retail dvd

Fred

I would like to make a backup copy of the XP Pro SP2 DVD I just purchased.
What is the best way to do this so it will boot properly during a
re-install, etc? I'm assuming simply doing a data copy (just copying all
the files) in something like Nero will not work. Should I create an ISO,
then burn it? Or is there another option which works best?

TIA

I didn't know XP was shipping on DVD.
You DO NOT do a data copy, you do a CD copy.

You're correct, it is a cd. I see "copy cd" as an option in Nero. Out of
curiosity, what exactly is the difference between "copying the cd", and
simply copying all the files over?

Thanks for the reply,

Use the CD copy function in Nero. It is a CD, not a DVD, correct?

Rock - Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is a CD. I made a copy that way (Nero
copy cd), though I haven't tried it. Why doesn't simply copying the files
as data work? is it not "bootable" that way? Frankly I've always been a
bit vague on just what "bootable" means.
