Make Messenger stop loading

AmyD

I am trying to get Messenger to stop signing me in
automatically when I connect to the Internet. I have
unchecked the auto login box in my Outlook Express prefs,
have disabled it in Outlook, and have set both the
machine and user profiles through gpedit to not load
automatically (XP Pro) but it still does!!! Am I missing
something? Please help!

Greetings Amy,

Do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed? Norton added a new "instant messaging scanning"
feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can conflict with Messenger and cause Windows
Messenger to automatically start. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the
Norton Antivirus icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open
Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger
and click OK.

Brilliant, Jonathon, that fixed it! Thank you so much.
Can't tell you how irritating that was, esepcialy since I
knew I had set "everything" up right - well, almost!
Anyway, thanks a bunch for your reply and you're now my
favorite support guy. Kudos.

I can't figure it out either!!! UGH....stupid Microsoft
charges $35.00 per incident for help....wtf!

When I get connected it signs me in automatically, and
then when I load MSN Messenger 6.1 and sign in, a box
pops up and says, you have been signed in at another
location...wtf?!?! haha...this is really annoying...why
can't there just be ONE MESSENGER!!

Brian from Toronto!
