Make IE the default browser

I have both IE 6 and Netscape 7 on a Windows XP computer. At one point
Netscape asked me if I wanted to make it the default browser. I said yes.
But how do I go back to IE? I found a check in IE under TOOLS, INTERNET
OPTIONS, PROGRAMS, that says to "check" here if you want IE to always check
to see if it is the default browser. But so far it has not checked. I have
exited all programs and even restarted the computer but whenever I start IE,
it opens but does not ask if I want to make it the default browser.

What am I missing??

Thanks

Kelly's Korner has a tweak that can be used to set the default
browser. No.88 on this page (I'm guessing that if the tweak is
necessary, this must be a common problem with the IE always check
area.):

If you have installed all the latest updates after SP1 you
will now see set programs access and defaults under your
start button. If for some reason it is not displayed there
then you can access it in start\control panel\add-remove
programs. When you open the add\remove programs you will
see the access button on the left side. Click this and
then you can choose your default mail\browser\media player
and so on. Good luck.
