make AUTOLOGON permanent

B

bent

Using XP home, SP2, auto updates.

Using TweakUI, I set LOGON / AUTOLOGON to "LOG ON AUOMATICALY AT SYSTEM
STARTUP"

This works for a couple of startups, then for no reason, it reverts
back to REQUIRING me to click on " USER " icon for the computer to start.

I want my computer to boot straight to desktop, without requiring me to
click on the " USER " icon.

According to what I found in GOOGLE, TweakUI is supposed to make this
happen.

Any idea why it reverts back and is there anything I can do to make it
permanent"?

Thanks

Thanks Gary and serglogin,

I would UNINSTALL MS net framework 1.1.. It was installed by my HP
all-in-one printer, and HP programs will not run without it.
(therefore, I have bought my LAST HP product) Looks like more BLOATWARE
to me.

I do appreciate your help, Thanks!!

I missed the original message and don't know what the problem was, but I
recommend that you do *not* uninstall .net framework 1.1. It's used by any
program that was written with .net 1.1, not just HP programs. If you
uninstall it, you may find that other programs will not run. And even if you
don't have programs that need it right now, you will likely find that you
will have them in the future.

There's really no downside to having it installed, so it will be there if
you need it.

HP was bloatware before .crap framework. I would like to say that I have
bought my last HP product, but I have to be able to print 11" x 17". It is
really tough to find an 11" x 17" printer that you can run down to Office
Depot and buy to replace the one that just died that isn't an HP.

What's wrong with that last sentence? ;-)

I do not have nor do I desire to have any Microsoft .Net Framework of any
flavor.

Thanks again to all.

I just hate that Microsoft and HP are trying to shovel shi* down my
throat and calling it candy!

I do appreciate everybodies help.
