Major problems..

I've just tried installing my printer and for some reason when I begin the
installation, half way through it says:

"The system cannot find the file specified"

And then it doesn't install the printer. I have a Canon BJC-240.

Also, when I go to Add/Remove Programs and click on Add/Remove Windows
Components it says:

"Setup was unable to load the master information file"
"The application could not be initialized"

I've also tried this on my Windows XP cd and it says the same thing.

What do I DO?

Hi bunnygoesboom,

For the "Setup was unable to load the master information file" error, you
will need to expand the sysoc.inf file from the install CD to the
C:\WINDOWS\inf folder. Follow the instructions in this MSKB article, "How to
expand Windows XP files from the installation disk":
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=888017
The file you need to expand is in the i386 folder on the install CD. You
would be expanding sysoc.in_ from the i386 folder on the install CD to
C:\WINDOWS\inf
The underscore that appears in the file extension for the filename that you
are expanding MUST be used in place of the third letter.

If after performing the above and restarting you are still unable to install
the printer drivers (as sometimes seemingly unrelated errors end up being
somehow related), d/load the printer drivers for XP from Canon's Support
site:
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid
=230&modelid=7963

I just tried this and it still doesn't work. I downloaded the drivers from
that site before I came here cos' I don't have the installation disk. Any
other ideas?

Unfortunately, no, I don't have any more ideas right off the top.........
