Major need of help...windows closing for no reason!

I hope somebody can help me. For the past week, certain programs and
websites are not loading properly. For example, my LimeWire will not open
when I double click on it. Also, when I go to certain sites, the entire
browser window suddenly closes and internet explorer closes. The only thing
I can think of is that recently I deleted old versions of Java off my
computer. I tried turning off my firewalls and re-installing the windows
service pack 2...but no change. I can't think what I could have done to end
up in this predicament! The only other thing I have done recently is a
spyware scan w/ Spyware Doctor, but the only files dealt w/ were cookies.
Unfortunately, I can't system restore to an earlier date because my system
restore was temporarily turned off since I just finished dealing w/ a Trojan
virus.

I'm at my wits end. I hope somebody has some ideas!!!

Thanks!

Those are the sort of symptoms that can indicate a spyware/trojan
infestation. Spyware Doctor is a pretty good product but no single
antispyware product can find and remove everything.

Here are some free online scanners you can try:
Trend Micro http://housecall.trendmicro.com
Kaspersky Online Scanner http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan
WindowSecurity.com TrojanScan http://windowssecurity.com/trojanscan
Webroot http://www.webroot.com/

Good luck

Thanks a lot Ron. I scanned my PC using the sites you suggested, but still
no luck (although I got rid of a lot of spyware along the way!). Maybe I
deleted something I shouldn't have while doing a spyware scan (I used
AD-aware and SpyDoctor)...who knows. I'll keep trying. Thanks
again............M

I kind of agree with some of the other posts that you need to clean up your
system--

Go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , follow the directions for using
HiJackThis, and let them help you. It will take you some time but you will
end up with a "clean" system.
