Major IE6 Problems

Cameron

I have been having some major problems with IE6 SP1. I have looked thought
the forum and picked out some helpful posts about JAVA and have installed
all of the (what I think) are the appropriate software patches (MS VM 3810,
Java 2 runtime environment 1.4.2)
I have AD AWARE Pro 6.0, I've scanned the computer 4 times, with the most
updated reference file.

The problems that are persisting are
1) Pages that won't load at all, sometimes they will load, sometimes they
won't.
2) Red X's in place of pictures and (what I would assume are java applets.)
All the settings in the internet options are at default. Again, sometimes
they will work, sometimes they won't.
3) Slow load times.
4) I would like to re-install IE, but don't know how???
5) I've scanned the computer for viruses with up-to-date definitions

I've just about had it...please help me....

Thank you

I'm am running win XP. I just downloaded Mozilla, and it works fine, I can
surf the internet no problem. It may be a case of reinstalling IE, but as
stated before, I can't find an uninstall....

Cameron,

I just re-installed today--you have to change a registry setting if you
already have Internet Explorer installed. It's not difficult, you just need
to know a couple things. You need to know how to open your registry
editor--here's how:

START>Run>Type 'regedit' and press Enter key (Note: Just excercise a little
caution while you have the registry editor open, and you'll be just fine.)

Now visit this link to Microsoft's Web site for instructions on how to
re-install IE (look at Method 2 about half way down the page):

Good luck,

Todd

Thanks for all your help. I'm still having the problem with IE. I have done
a repair install of windows XP and it still doesn't work properly. I don't
know if it is a virus or what. The JAVA works fine (java test sites.) I am
also finding that buttons don't load and pages. It seems to happen a lot,
with most pages it will take forever to load and then half the stuff won't
load at all....don't know what to do...

I'm at the point where I just want to format and re-install...can anyone
help me with that. I don't know how to format a computer with win xp on it?
I've tried the fresh install, but it won't let me.

Thanks

Boot from the WinXP CD.

Just so wer are on the same pager here. Set up the boot sequence in the
CMOS/BIOS to load the CD frist then the HD? Then proceed with start-up as
normal and it should pick up the CD and begin the install?

Thanks

I should also mention that this happens in outlook as well. When I open an
email from whoever, and there are pictures in it, they won't load, there
will be a pause, as if they are trying to load but then just come up as [X].
If that is any more help, I don't know....?

Thanks

About the outlook email. It only happens with pictures that are in an email,
but linked to a site. Not pictures that are sent with an email.

Yes. One of the options will be to repair the installation. There will
also be an option somewhere along the way to format the drive.
