Mail not being sent

I am experiencing severe problems with sending e-mails - sometimes deliverd
three days late -- sometimes never delivered. Orange state that the problem
lies in Outlook (as they would!!). Outgoing Mail Server is set as
smtp.orangehome.co.uk.
I would rather not change the ISP as this means losing the broadband
connection for up to three weeks.
I would greatly appreciate some advice re this problem.

I would v. much doubt it is Outlook.

There is no need to change ISP. In fact, it is never a good idea to have
your email address dependent on your ISP. My preference would be to buy a
domain and use that as your email address, some also include smtp servers.
If you don't want to pay for it, I suggest you get a google mail account -
if you're in the USA you can get one via cellphone message, otherwise email
me and I can send you an invite.

Love to, but (e-mail address removed) is not a valid email
address, whereas mine is.
