Mail Merge with Word 2000

After auto-updates to Microsoft products last night 11/16/06 --- I am no
longer able to open an Access file to merge with a Word.doc. Message
displays - waiting for Microsoft Access to accept DDE commands. File never
opens. Also can not use office links within Access to merge to a word.doc
Receive - The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable..Help
-- I have several charity projects that I need to finish up!

Yours is not the first report about problems with the last update...

If you're in a hurry, then you can merge using ODBC instead of DDE. Activate
the "select method" checkbox in the dialog box where you select the data
source. Then choose ODBC from the list that appears after you "OK" the dialog
box.

If your data source is a query, click "Options" in the following dialog box,
then activate "View" to add the queries at the end of the list of tables.
