Mail merge signatures

I have a user whos signature does not attach itself to e-mails when they have
been set up by mail merge. He is using Outlook 2003. I can't seem to find
an option to choose to attach signature when doing the mail merge. I thought
the signature would automatically be attached as with the normal e-mails.
Can anybody shed some light on this?

The user should copy and paste the signature into the mail merge document.
