mail merge problem

When usining word mail merge and point to outlook as the contacts folder a
screen appears asking for a data base, excel or similar I am only using
conatcts in outlook please help

You didn't post any information. If you need help, it would be nessary
to post your Outlook and Word versions, precise steps you are using for
the merge, and the configuration of your Outlook Address Book.

One easy way to prevent these problems is simply to start the merge from
your Contacts Folder. That will usually work even if you have made
mistakes in configuring Outlook and Word or in constructing the merge.
