Mail links messed up

E

Ernie Lane

I just got a new computer (XP Home) and I use the Internet Explorer and
Outlook Express that came with it. The link between IE and OE is messed up:

- When I click on the email button and select 'send link,' I get the Choose
Profile window, select the only one there, and then nothing happens.
Shouldn't it open a New Message window or something?

- When I click on an email (Mailto:) link, I get an apparent freeze, and
then after a couple of minutes I get an IE windows that says, "Could not
perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly
installed." When I click the OK button, I start getting dozens of IE
windows, one every couple of seconds, and I have to end the IE task in the
task manager to get out of it.

Any ideas?

hi,

go to microsoft.com and download ie 6.0
save on desktop,
then go to 'start - control panel - add/remove software'
on the left side click on add/remove windows components
uncheck 'internet explorer'
after the uninstallation is complete restart your
computer.
then install the downloaded version of ie 6.0
choose typical installation that will include outlook
express

Ernie,

As PA Bear said. In addition (or) if that does not help (due to a protocol setting):

Multiple browser windows open when you click on a mailto: link:
