"Mail Delivery Subsystem" shortcut in Start Menu?

Bob

Last night I noticed a new shortcut in my Start Menu ... "Mail
Delivery Subsystem" ... certainly not put there by me or any program I
know of.

I rightclicked on it to look at Properties ... it flashed
something on the screen and all I could catch was a .edu ending.

I locked down Internet access with ZoneAlarm, moved the
shortcut to the Recycle Bin, changed all ZA permissions to 'ask' and
ran the following (which had all been updated earlier that day):

stinger.exe
TheCleaner
TDS-3
EZ_AV
Spybot S & D
Ad-aware.

Nothing found ... so I connected to the Internet, updated them
all, and ran again with no hits. Also ran online Housecall (and have
Spyware Blaster already installed).

Now back online and see no unusual activity from Zone Alarm.

Anybody have any idea how this shortcut might have gotten into
my Start Menu? Or can you suggest any other programs to run?

Thanks!

Change younger to older for email.

You seem to have covered most tools. I'd try running a full virus scan
in safe mode.

Have you applied all M$ updates?
Assuming XP, check your accounts setup, and ensure you have good
passwords. Make sure file sharing is disabled.

Try hijackthis. Follow the intructions at http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ to get
and use it.
