Magenta Banding Canaon i950

David Gerard

Canon i950.... I have noticed some banding in my magenta portions. When I
run a nozzle check every other column is only half filled (exactly). All the
other colors and columns are filled completely. When I print a head alignment
the magenta column is always stripped, that is it never blends to make a
smooth color. I don't know how these things work but it seems like it is
missing one pass somehow...Any ideas??
Many Thanks, David

Personally, I wish my 950 would die so I could have an excuse to replace it
with something non-Canon.

It sounds like an electrical issue, perhaps related to the interconnect. It
may help to remove and then reinstall the printhead.

David - read the information about print head cleaning on
http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/
You can also sign in and post your problem. For particularly difficult
problems you can even upload a picture of your nozzle check and someone on
that forum may be able to help you solve the problem. On the home page of
that forum there is a link to Neil Slade's web site where he discusses Canon
printers in general, inks, cartridges, and printer maintenance, including
clearing head clogs. His link is

Another clog from noname AfterMarket inks bites the dust.

Stinky - read the original post and follow through the entire thread. You
asked if he used OEM inks and he didn't respond to your question. He
probably has your address kill filed (smart man). The link for the
aftermarket ink vendor was specifically directed to their page on cleaning
cartridges, an item that is sometimes necessary for OEM or non-OEM ink
users. Tony has responded on more than one occasion with the information
that clogs he sees in his repair facility are about equally divided between
OEM and non-OEM inks. You are so intent on blaming every printer
malfunction on aftermarket inks that you either gloss over the details of a
posted problem or you purposely distort the message to suit your bias. With
your logical disconnect of neuronal pathways I pity the poor person who
hires you to do the high level programming you claim to do.

Classic response from Measekite when the facts don't support his views. He
changes my message and adds one of his stupid little smily face symbols.
