Macros for Windows Explorer?

It would be nice if I could select a file and use a macro (or something like it)
to go to Properties/Details/Title by a single button-press. Any hope?

AFAIK, macros are only available in Office.

I'm not sure what you are wanting. Something to do with the file's
properties popup? That might be complicated, as I see different tabs in
the Windows XP properties popup with different file types.

If you want to sort the files by name you can acomplish that with only
two mouse clicks, right click for context menu and select arrange icons
by name. It doesn't matter which display mode Windows Explorer is in. In
list and details view, a single click on the column heading will sort on
that column. A second click on the column heading will sort in the
opposite direction. These sorts are only for the folder view in Windows
Explorer, as they DON'T affect the folder listing on the drive (as you
would see in the command console DIR listing).

The Office suite doesn't have an exclusive on Macros, but I don't know
of any macro capabilities in Windows Explorer except in connection with
the scripting and object features (javascript/vbscript/java
applet/activex control) associated with the "view as web page" that was
available in Windows 9x/ME.

What I want is to access easily the Details tab of File/Properties where I can
insert or edit entries under Title and Comments. I set the display for all
folders in Details view to show columns containing that information. It also
appears in the "Mouse-over" display for the filename. .

Yes this is not available for all file types, sadly - and I wish it were
available for folders too!

With many thanks,
Yours sincerely, -
