Macros Disabled

Hi there,

Since installing MYOB (an accountig package - Austrlian product) everytime I
open a word document (Word 2003) I get the following message -

Microsoft Visual
The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or
documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros.

No matter what I have tried (and I have treid to follow the forums) I cannot
get the message to stop reappearing everytime I open Word.

Help required.

Did you "refer to the online help or documentation of the host application
to determine how to enable macros"? In Word, you need to set Macro Security
(Tools | Macro | Security) to Medium so you'll at least get a chance to
enable the macros. On the Trusted Sources tab of that dialog, check the box
for "Trust all installed templates and add-ins." This will cover add-ins in
your templates folders and the Word Startup folder, which may solve the
problem with the MYOB add-in. If it's in the Office Startup folder, then
unfortunately Word's trust doesn't extend that far, but when you get the
message asking you to enable the macros, you may get the chance to "Trust
all macros from XYZ corp." OK that, and you won't be bothered again.

I can confirm that the security level is medium and the trusted sources tab
is ticked. I however do not get the chance/ability to trust all macros. Is
there another way of trusting all macros, the opening of word is really
annoying.

Does it matter that when the message comes up, does it have anything to do
with visual basic?

Microsoft Visual Basic
The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or
documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros.

This tells me that some application has inserted an Add-In in the Office
startup folder (which is not a trusted location) rather than in the Word
Startup folder. Unless it is used for other Office applications, I would
move it to the Word startup folder.

I have actually changed the security level to medium and now I get asked
whether I want to enable/disable macros. It states that "C\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\OFICE11\STARTUP\MyobMN97.dot" contains macros.

When I got to More Info it states that if I dont want to be warned about any
macros I should attach a digital signature to the list of trusted
sources....ow do I do that?

See my earlier post about moving this to your Word startup folder.
Otherwise, ask MYOB's publisher to issue it with a digital signature that
you can trust.

Thanks Charles, but being the novice I am , how do I actually perform the
task you have suggested?

The chances are that the MYOB add-in (which appears to be for Word 97) may
not be compatible with your version of Word. Locate the file C\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP\MyobMN97.dot and move it to another
location. Then check with MYOB whether they have a version of the add-in
compatible with Word 2003.

This will remove the prompt - and the macros.
