MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION after SP2

Good evening.

Last night I tried to run SP2 setup on my P4 notebook. Setup was successful.
The same for following reboots.

When lately I tried to run my machine without power supply (only with
default battery), Win XP (Italian version, absolutely original) stopped
during the bootstrap. Error message was “MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION†and system
re - booted himself.

I’ve tried again and again, but the problem is always the same, if I tri to
use OEM battery. No problems before SP2 setup, neither now with power supply.

I read the KB329284 article but wasn’t useful to help me.

Could you help me to solve my problem? I dis-installed SP2 and no problems
again. Now I’m trying to install it again, because I don’t want to miss
security enhancements.
