Windows XP lsass.exe application error.

When loading XP home, once the xp loading section has passed i get the error message stating:

lsass.exe - Application error.

The application failed to initialise properly (0xc0000005) Click OK to terminate the application.

Same applies to safe mode.
Can anyone help please?
